Plot Summary:When Elaine, a frightened young Korean American girl, is brutally abused by her mother, the only solace she can find is in her sister and her pet fly: A symbolic reminder of Elaine's deteriorating innocence. Her hostile surroundings are magnified as she is alienated in the predominantly Caucasian suburban school. Elaine and her sister try to find the courage and the hope to live their lives as ordinary little girls.
