Plot Summary:Sergio (Sergio Corrieri), through his life following the departure of his wife, parents and friends in the wake of the Bay of Pigs incident. Alone in a brave new world, Sergio observes the constant threat of foreign invasion while chasing young women all over Havana before finally meeting Elena (Daisy Granados), a young virgin girl he seeks to mould into the image of his ex-wife, but at what cost to himself?

熟练地化安东尼奥尼、戈达尔和雷奈为己用的[低度开发的回忆]是真正意义上的马克思主义电影，阿莱/德斯诺埃斯在一个人主观世界的发展和国家社会的历史之间建起了桥梁。在所有“低度开发”的表征里，最为重要的是记忆、性格和历史的不连贯性。最终[蚀]一样的结尾表明了个体与历史之间永远的分离。这种分裂即是古巴知识分子与欧洲文明之间不可逾越的鸿沟。
松散叙事架构中穿插政治新闻纪录影像，主角在片中作为无所事事只会读书恋爱的资产阶级是一个被架空的概念，他既是作者用来见证古巴政治局势以及传达政治观点的工具，同时也象征着作为本片主要批判对象的古巴资产阶级，作者镜头底下的古巴资产阶级是一个迷失的与社会脱节的对政治时局无动于衷的冷漠群体
