Plot Summary:Sandy and Shorty, more ragged than ever but still more genial of mind than ever, drift into town and do a service to a poor landlady as well as to their country. The sheriff of the county receives word that a convict is someplace in the surrounding country, who for some time past has been a guest of the state penitentiary and who has rudely left. In a boarding-house near the sheriff's office, an actor who cannot pay his bill is being unceremoniously ejected; the landlady takes care of his trunk. Sandy and Shorty, who have assisted in the dismissal of the unfortunate player, espy the contents of the trunk, to which the irate landlady makes them welcome. Within it are all manner of gorgeous raiment, and Sandy and Short go to a secret spot to discard their old and don the new attire. During the course of their rambles of the next few hours, they come upon the cool waters of the village reservoir. The day is hot and they are tired. They hesitate a moment, and then disrobing, plunge into the pleasant depths. While they are thus disporting themselves, their attention is suddenly called to a fellow clad in the garb of a convict, stealing all of their \"glad raga.\" Arrayed only in barrels, Sandy and Shorty give chase and catch the fugitive. In due time, to their amazement, they are handed out the reward which was offered for the capture of the convict. With true satisfaction, they don their old clothes happily and contentedly, no worse for their adventure.
