拍过大幻影的雷诺阿再拍的第二部越狱电影。不明白法国大导战后为什么如此喜欢越狱题材? 满足观众奔向自由的渴望?大幻影和逃兵比较看，一战的贵族气质荡然无存。但是比起后来拍的辛德勒的名单比起来，德国兵像菩萨一般，居然安排法军俘虏看牙。1962年拍的二战片居然没有丑化德国鬼子，说明了什么? 有可能，现在的二战电影成了样板戏。比起雷诺阿的其他经典，这部被埋没不是没有原因。
