Plot Summary:It follows the journey of Susanne (Hanna Schygulla) and her daughter Sylvie (Anja Schneider). Through their phone calls, Sylvie hears her mother languishing in the nursing home and tries to navigate the bureaucratic red tape to get her out. But their struggle takes an unexpected turn as they become entangled in the surrealistic task of tracing back the cord of the telephone through which they communicate through nightmares and memories in an attempt to reach each other at the other end of the line.
