This young man, Brian Jackson, coming from a working class family to Bristol University to pursue his thirst for knowledge. I LOVE this movie: not only it presents me a delightful picture of a British uni life, but also I see the growth of one through the ups and downs of uni life. Each one of us comes to university with great anticipation and expectation. We meet interesting people and we do things we are interested in. Though the road is always bumpy, I firmly believe this will be the prime of our years, which when we look back upon, will be the years that we treasure the most of.
I love the beginning lines of the movie: "Ever since I can remember, I want to be clever. Some people are born clever, the same way that some people are born beautiful. I am not one of those people. I have to work at it. If there is a question, I have to know the right answer. As Francis Bacon says, Knowledge is power, which is why I want to know everything. If I am gonna find these answers, I need to be in a place where people have passion for knowledge. That's why I hope to be accepted to this university." Want to cheer for Brian again using the tone of University Challenge: "Jackson Bristol"!!
