Returning from a 3 weeks 5 places self alone backpacker trip, I am attracted to this documentary movie about 50 weeks 26 countries self alone backpacker travelling. Why are we travelling? What do we expect from it? Does it heal, does it hurt? Does it change anything, and to which direction to which extent? Finally is it an addiction, an escape, or simply a lifestyle?
For quite a long time, I was afraid of going to Lhasa, afraid of loosening the connections with the real world, afraid of floating on the way and losing the ticket to get back. After all the spinning roads I went through, all the happiness and tears I had, all the efforts to dig for meaningfulness I made, I find it getting me closer to the real world rather than to the wandering fantasy, unexpectedly, how much more I love my family and friends, I enjoy my work and life, and I appreciate my time and experience. I may be looking for someone or struggling for something when I initiated the pack and go, now I guess I found it, I am back and I’m no longer in a hurry. This is magic.
My upcoming Egypt trip, I know it from the very beginning, it will be more about family union time than travelling itself, and will be more about the real people real love than about the vast unknown. Dear mom and dad, I’m looking forward to.
