Altered Carbon E2(1)-6(8)
First thing first, I am not a fan of science fiction movies, animes or books. So my opinions could be biased and naive, after all, I am writing this not because I intend to be a critic or professional writer but to practice my English writing skills.
As the link of episode 1 on the website that normally enables me to watch these dramas was not properly functioned. Thus, I skipped the first episode and went directly to the next one. My first impression, of course, as the most of audiences have noticed, was about the god damn fresh and delicious body of Joel. Six pacts, strong arms, handsome face, that’s astounding, or maybe, jealous is a better word that can more precisely describe my feelings. In regard to the storyline, to be honest, I have no idea what the hell was going on after I had finished the first two episodes (E2-E3). “Uhhh..., this rich guy wants to figure out who was trying to kill him last year” “ Oh... thats sexy man, I wish I can have that sleeve(body)” “ Why this girl keep yelling for no reason?” “ naked bodies” “ more naked bodies” “ Are they going to have sex? Oh yeah, but they barely know each other, come on he is Joel, make sense” “Bloody hell, thats gross” “Errr..., it hurts... Okay....wow”
There are also many exclusive terminologies in this show, most of them are so confusing for me. Sleeve equals to body, human consciousness can be transferred through the machine called something I cant even recall now. In this context, Human beings can literally live for even, and immortality is no longer an alien concept for our race. It is creepy and spooky if u seriously contemplate it in-depth. Dictators, tyrants, despicable criminals, and other rich daunting motherfukers would endlessly bother the victims and other innocents by fitting their consciousness into different sleeves. Furthermore, appearances mean nothing now. A 25 years old blonde may has a 85 years old male spirit inside her body, the way she talks, the posture she displays to the public have nothing to do with her “outfit”. However, in the bright side, for LGBT community, this is a gift given by God. They can now breakthrough the gender boundary, and physically align with their true identity. No more public discriminations and miserable struggles for them. The curse is over.
I didn’t watch all the episodes, its a shame coz I just took “ Don’t start what you can’t finish” as my new motto, I tried, at least :)
It also, on the other hand, reflexes how shit this show is, the disturbance and dullness made me unable to watch it till the end. Ironically, I am a huge fan of thrilling movies and dramas, and My motivation to decide whether to keep watching is predominately driven by curiosity. But I dump this show like throwing away a bag of garbages without any hesitation and mercy.
The reviews written by others in Douban are so funny as well.
“It seems like they run out of money after E6 since all the CG budget had been poured into the first five episodes, and this show weirdly morphed from a science fiction drama into a family feud after that.”
“Never ever have I had this strong urgency and eager to witness the heroine being brutally murdered by bad dudes, why this bitch is yelling everywhere, Can you plz shut the fuk up?”
Side note: I am taking about all these bullshits coz I have nothing to say, just like when I was writing the review of “Gunpowder”. Too boring and I have to write some historical backgrounds to fill the blanks, otherwise, it would be so awkward.
Weekly or maybe monthly update my reviews, this is my new year resolution as well. Currently, watching Counterpart featured by JK Simmons, I don’t want to prentent that I know who he is. I haven’t pored my attention to any TV dramas in years. But, based on what I have seen in the first two episodes, this one is definitely better than Altered Carbon.
