Dissent is the highest form patriotism. Mostly, people believed which came from the well-known American president, Thomas Jefferson. Allegedly, it's not proven. However, it's so true that we don't have to figure out where the real reference is.
Individual herosim fulfill the great American dream, always symbolizes the classical American movie which inspires people. So action, sci-fi, western, contemporary, war, social, animation, mountains of good triumphs over evil were got through us and we enjoyed a lot actually. Since 911, which was absolutely an anti-human tragedy, it had changed somehow. The party who was beaten by the hero, the core of evil, was not a simple psychopath, or an overbearing badass anymore. A group of Al-Qaida, terrorists, people from the Middle East joined this big family. Without doubt, some of them are awfully cruel, inhumane and even savage. But whether the U.S. is always the right one or not is still questionable. We saw some good movie, who had some anti-war thought, like The Hurt Locker, Lone Survivor, Zero Dark Thirty and Argo, etc.
I didn't get much about this part from it, just a tiny part of his hesitation when he found the target in his lens was a boy. I suppose the reaction mostly came from his indentity as a father. Probably Eastwood didn't mean to highight this point, but I believe that's actually a necessity of human part. And the first time Chris and Taya met each other in the bar was an unsolved problem, she asked a good question, not only she but also the audiences were not given a certain answer. The ego, how on earth you guys got the ego that you claimed you're there to sacrifice yourself to save everyone's ass. There're always conflicts among countries, the human history is quite like a war history. Indeed some are great and full of humanity, but you can't just tell us you fight for the greatest country. Maybe you used to be one, but you broke into treaded on their territory, broke into citizen's house, threatened their family, promised to protect them and didn't keep your words. At least, you can't say that's justice.
PTSD is worth paying attention to but regretablly that part lack of clear expression. Just as someone joked, he came back, argued with Taya and she cried, over. Again and again. Just after a simple consultation, he got positive attitude. And the ironic tragedy happened.
I don't know how bad the warning of real sniper's father affect the movie, but as a master, Eastwood didn't satisfy me. Cooper did well, however, stop putting on weight, dude.
