缺席

Ekta Mittal, 独立导演和制作人，我亲爱的尊敬的Ram师兄的妻子。这部缺席还要去找来看，这次看的是另一部distance，豆瓣上没有条目。我那天缠着Ram要他告诉我他妻子的故事。他给我发了她的这部distance。看完了写下这些感受，也发给了Ram。希望他带我转达我对Ekta的敬意。

It is a shame that I cannot understand the lyrics of the songs in the film. The one in the end, in the rain, touched me the most. I guess it should be about love and missing someone, a sense of loneliness, and at the same time, hope and comfort. I really like it. It reminds me of my own encounters with the migrant workers’ love stories - their old photos in their used phones which were now used by their old parents. Their intimacy was vivid in those pictures even I rarely hear them talk about it. The distance, was very real, in the film. I can feel the cruelty of it, in their endless work and empty time that need to be filled with love. It was silence, instead. That silence can be filled by tiresome work, a television drama of love, or love songs from the radio. And in the silence, you think about all the beauty of the impossible love and impossible life. It was hard and cruel. But still, I felt encouraged and somehow, inspired. Because I felt love, or any kind of humanity, can never be destroyed. It will live. It is stronger than we assume.
