That quotation is only appropriate for ordinary people. When faced death and fighted with it, Noland exploited great bravery and energy he had never known before. He was smart and funny. I wonder how long I could live in that small and isolated island. I cannot make rope, catch fish with stick nor climb cliff. I cannot even bear the torture of tooth extraction. It is so real. Most people could do the same in that situation if they still have hopes. This film revealed common humanity rather than created lofty heros or fairy-tale love stories.
I love Wilson. Though not in a deserted island, we have pets and dolls to be our best companions. They are virtual figures created by our imagination. We need someone who trust and concern us with no condition and whom we totally trust. Sometimes I even think except for all the convenience of modern society, we are all isolated. No one really knows you.
We have to make life a little bit easier in any harsh situation, and expect life can bring us unexpected surprises. We have to hold on because tomorrow the sun will rise.
