也许，从电影的开场音乐开始，这个故事就注定是悲伤。

母子的早餐，一起坐公车上班上学。一切看起来似乎都很美好。

是的，只是似乎。
而阳光照耀的早晨，确并不明亮。

现在回想，老牛仔没有给这部片子任何一个明亮的镜头，灰色的屋子，暗色的人流，稀落的阳光。

"Once the city of angels,Los Angeles has become a place,where our protectors has become our brutalizers. Where to be the law is to be above the law."

是的，这就是大萧条时期的 L.A.

所以，当Christine开始否认那个本不是她的儿子的儿子，当她跑到警局求队长继续寻找她的儿子，当她最终只能诉诸报刊。

悲剧发生了。

我无法想象呆在精神病院里是什么样的一个感觉，但是这里，绝对是将反对你的人关押的一个绝好场所。
there's absolutely no winning with the doctors. If you smile too much, you're delusional. If you smile too little, you're depressed. If you're neutral, then you've lost touch with basic human emotions. All anyone can do is learn how to behave properly.”

是的，一个人对抗一个阶级，胜算渺茫。

但好在最终通过努力，大家的反抗，Christine最后被解救出来了。
但是，一切都会好起来么？

Christine离开了精神病院，她独自在大街上行走，而报童在喊着："Kids found murdered in Riverside! Biggest crime in Los Angeles history! Collins boy assumed dead!"

上帝啊，这是为什么？

而在这一连串的丑闻之后，当局还想着逃避责任，避重就轻。

这，又是为什么？！

而打击并没有击溃她，为了儿子，不管是死是活，她记得她告诉他的，"Never start a fight, always finish it."

所以，她奋斗到底。

队长被停职了，局长被降职了，市长没参加竞选。
而杀人犯也死了，为了挣扎自己那可悲的灵魂得以安息，他至死也没有告诉Christine他到底有没有杀了她儿子。

但是，她没有放弃。

Why?

"why not. Either way, It give me something I didn't have before tonight."
