黑暗物质三部曲 第二季

Different from the Season 1, the Season 2 tells a more exciting and fantastic story. One reason maybe is the Season 1 has a movie version, no doubt that TVs always less visual effects than movies. Another reason could be that no one character in this play shows his/her charm, it makes the Season 1 a little monotonous.

I’ve changed my impression to Mrs Coulter a lot in Season 2. I thought she was a definitely bad gay after watching Season 1. Although she shows some kind to Lyra, she still does many things that hurt Lyra. Even in the last scene, she met Asriel before the Window and gave up following Asriel for Lyra. I didn’t think her words are trustable. However, for the conversation between she and Lee in the prison, I first see a mother’s imagination from her. And from the following plot, her image of a mom who tries to protect her daughter is very apparently. All her effects is to make Lyra away from her density of Eva and survive from the Magisterium’s persecution. But it seems that her methods still could not be accept by me or Lyra. In spite of this aspect, she also shows a woman’s image in patriarchal society. She is an ambitious and very intelligent woman. But she couldn’t be free to do what she want, because the society doesn’t recognize females’ competence. When she talks her anecdote with Asriel, Boreal calls it is Asriel’s anecdote. See? Even in scandal, woman becomes the decoration of a man’s story. What’s a pity truth!

The other character that impressed me is Will. The Season 1, according to the book <The Golden Compass>, mainly tells the story about Lyra. The Season 2 is more about Will. I couldn’t describe the feeling he bring to me. A barrage thinks that the actor can success Chadwick Boseman‘s position in <Black Panther>. Then I understand Will gives me a justice and gentleness image. That seems to the gentleman in royal family.

By the ways, I think this Season’s manufacture is better than previous one, especially E04 and E05. The endings are very surprise and interesting, maybe it is because the worldview is unfolded in this Season.

All in all, I am expected to the last Season and in next year I will read the original book to explore this world.

P.S. Some details in this movie

· In Dr. Malone’s lab, the screen shows the pictures on the alethiometer is because Lyra’s hands are actting as playing the alethiometer.

· Lyra tells Will that she was a betrayer, that is consistent wirh what Dr. Carne said in S1E1 that Lyra would be a betrayer and only had she became it, would she realize it.

· Spectres don’t catch Malone in Cittagzza because Dust has said it would protect her. When she sits on the boat, an angel can been seen under the sunlight.
