Having watched the first three seasons, I somehow like the tragic character Brody, of course, with sympathy. This guy could be every one of us before going to the war. He had a family people would dream of, a lovely wife and two adorable kids, and a bunch of old friends to hang out with.
However, sadly and brutally, the war turned him and compared with long-term physical torture he suffered, it is the post-war trauma that killed him.
People may say that Brody was a traitor to his country, a unfaithful husband to his wife, and a pathetic father to his kids, but just think of what he had been through in the last ten years in his life: after he returned to the States, he really did not have much of an option in his destiny but to act along and move forward, and for every decision he made to his "mission" and family, he painfully struggled and even violently trembled. In this way, many of his "sins" could be understood and to some extent, forgiven. If you happen to watch this TV show, you would probably share the same feeling.
So, what I see in Brody was a strong-willed U.S marine who always tried to protect his family and on many occasions miraculously came back to life from what could have ended him. And the most touching moment of the TV show I think would be his final visit to his daughter, who ended up to be a stranger to Brody after so much mental pain she's been through, where people could see how desperately he needed to see his daughter and tell her in person he was innocent because soon after the visit, he would be sent on the mission to Iran and no one could promise he would make it...
In a word, it is worth you time to watch the TV show just to know no matter how life could damage us, we could always keep our head up as long as we have faith.
