See, that's the reason I don't like being taken photos - I hate the idea that one day, some total strangers hold my pictures and say, 'Can you believe this is the person I used to have a huge crush on? She had great shoulders.' That will be my worst nightmare. Photographers, get lost!
There's a very interesting vignette where Billy took the comments very personally on how washed-up he'd become and stopped his medication. A very truthful insight it offers - artist is just a euphemism for maniac who is emotionally unstable, fucked up, self-destructive.
- 'It is hard to get your shit together with someone watching.'
- 'It is. But when no one's watching, where are you then? Where the fuck are you then?'
Very becoming in regard to my most recent focus of academic work - what is a man's position in this world in a sense of how to assert one's being against all the odds. As Leslie said, there are ways one presents him/herself to this world, sounding metaphysical admittedly, yet one's subjective perceptions of his/herself are inseparable from those of his/her surroundings. Another way to put it would be how one feels he is judged is the how he judges himself.
