Slides

Slides is an accumulation of fragments assembled as a celluloid collage. these sections of photographic transparencies and short film strips were irregularly cut up and stuck together, and then physically pulled by hand through the Co-op's Debrie step printer. some of the raw materials had holes punched in them, often filled with pieces from different sources.

Slides removes our sense of cinematic motion related to real life events and uses them as facts in the unfolding of an artwork. it liberates the procket holes and framelines from their roles as mechanical components and established them as elements of a temporal arrangement.
