That’s the joy of walking. On the way, you harvest beautiful sceneries,wonderful friendships, and most of all, rebirth and resurrection of your own life. You reconnect with your origin, and find, through the way, what you have been made of and have been looking for.
The walk scrapes off all the redundancy, makes the essence clear.
In a way, it’s quite close to life journey itself. Through the journey, you reaps friendships, good memories, and most of all, the meaning of your unique life. Perhaps that’s why the ending is perfectly akin to the theme. Since toward the end of our journey, it’s almost like a religious experience, a sublimation of all the mundane, a reconciliation with the past, and a graceful relief in front of death.
If I were the trekker, I would weep too, at the cathedral, though I’m not a catholic.
A good movie doesn’t have to be breath-taking or heart-gripping. It can be just as life is, quiet, calm, flowing in time, with little ripples occasionally. And still beautiful.
