As I was a young boy, I have watched the movie called “Who Am I”. Its leading actor is Jackie Chan. The film is mainly about memory loss.
At the beginning of the movie, three scientists found a falling rock which has big energy in it.CIA sent eleven soldiers who from lots of country to rob the pieces of the meteoroid. At the end of the mission, the soldiers were betrayed by some traitor in CIA. Ten of them died except Jackie. Although Jackie was alive, his brain had been injured and lost most of his memory.
Well, when Jackie lost his memory, who was he? Let me do some example. If a person couldn’t remember his experience, he or she will become a new person who does not have pass by. Everything begins again for the amnesiacs. They have to rebuild their own relationship and remodeling three views.
So how can we cognize ourselves? Our minds have its material basis; even some tiny mistake in our brain can be a big trouble to us. Just like Jackie. Jackie was fallen down from top on the helicopter to the ground, luckily, that the tree under the helicopter buffered the impact force. Every year we learn some events about vegetable patient. They all got an incident of hitting on their heads.
After watching the film, I was wondering who I am. I’m an eighteen-year-old student in college. I’m a good friend to all the people who care about me. I’m an obedient child of my parents. This kind of sentences is from the point of my personal relationships. The environment where I’ve grown up mould my personality just like a common saying: orange from the south is sweet and the other from the north is bitter. If a boy was thrown in a forest and feed up by a female wolf, he couldn’t adapt human society when he grows up. He got used to eat raw meat rather instead of cooked meat. And he couldn’t use language to communicate with other people so he cannot be surviving in our world. This is evidence which strongly prove what we are depend on where we are come from.
Well, I think the question of “who we are” connected to another question about “where we came from”. In the movie “Who Am I”, because of the education from his father, Jackie keep his kind-hearted throughout the whole movie. He saved the stranger beside the road. And he always remembered the promise he had made to the kids of the tribe. All these bright spirits learned from Jackie’s father. The sentence what his father told him is: “To be a good man forever.” Without the instructions of his father, maybe Jackie will capitulate to the dark power in CIA, and it will become a disaster to many innocent people. He is a real hero.
So where are we going? It lies on the two I have just said above. “Where we came from” lead to “who we are”. And “who we are” result in “where we are going”. The more clearly we learn about ourselves, and then we can handle better about what kind of life we should choose for our excellenfuture.
