For most of my existence, I was known as September. I have collected within this notebook the documentation of my observations on mankind. As a scientist, my purpose was to observe important moments in time, but not to impact them. I failed in this endeavor.
From the start, I was curious as to what I would discover. I had no way to predict the beauty I would find in the human race. It stirred something inside me that I did not recognize. I soon realized they called these things feelings, and I liked them. My fellow scientist, August, also experienced this phenomenon, but he suffered greatly and expired. August's death served as a cautionary tale. I tried to fight my own impulses but learned no matter how many years the human heart has evolved, it will always be an organ of great mystery.
It was my newfound connection to these indefinable emotions that led to my interference. As I continued my mission, I was struck by some of the things I witnessed. They call it love. The first time I heard the word, I did not understand. But I saw it flourish with Walter Bishop. I witnessed the way he treated his son. The way all these people in this past version of humanity seemed capable of something that we had evolved away from many years before.
In the following pages are many, but not all, pertinent moments, documents, and images from my journey with Peter Bishop, Olivia Dunham, and most important, Walter Bishop.
