刮痧影评：Charater tragedy and Crossing cluture conflicts
After watching Gua Sha, I don't want to watch any flims about crossing culture.The crossing culture film is very difficult for me to accept what we believe in Chinese is good but not in other countries especially in America.
At the beginning of Gua Sha and the development of the film, the male hero who is very rude and always loses his temper made up the tragedy although he just want to present his love of his son on the court..If he can control his temper at first, I think they may get the opportunity to win the affair and bring back their son. However, he was so angry with the bullshit lawyer and made Dennis get far away from him. Secondly, the male hero said that he had been America for 8 years that is a long time but he was nonsense about American laws. Finnally, when his father came back to China, he want his father have a chance to meet his grandson or complete his father’s willing. He brought his son away from the Children Welfare Centre, which led to the bad result he lose the right to care his cute son.
On the other hand, the crossing culture conflict is one of the main factor in this tragedy.
Gua Sha, a Chinese traditional medical curing methods, is good for blood circulation and strengthen our body. However, it is unscientific in America and difficult for American to understand how it works ,very ridiculous and stupid way. So after Dennis was cured by GuaSha, the trace of GuaSha made American believe that Dennis got abusement by his family. Actually not! These are “毒素” called from GuaSha, which show us the effort of GuaSha.
The ending of the flim, I nearly cried. The male hero can’t get back home from formal way so he chose to climb the building to get to his home and pass the lovely christmas. When I watch he seemed to fall down from the building, my heart is nervous and painful and I kept on asking meself why it came to this result and why the culture conflict is so horrible.
Therefore it’s a high time and necissity for us to promote the dissemination of Chinese culture and traditions to the world and decrease the conflicts between China and other countries.
