The movie is a low budget one and the story is pretty simple.
Allison Scot is a typical American-dream girl with family, though her father did not show up, decent job with future perspective, safe car and few colleagues. Ben Stone is a totally different story. First, he is a Canadian, living in the US illegally (what’s wrong with Canadians? In the US movies, Canadians have been always presented as illegal aliens, though, different from the way Mexicans are). Second, Ben has nothing to do. Yeah, he and his roommates are launching a website, counting boobs and bushes in the movie, but what’s that supposed to be? Does that make money? Last but not least, he smokes weeds. Yes, there are a couple of places in the Canada and the US that smoking weeds is totally legal, but, soft drug is drug, anyway.
That, basically makes up the base line for the whole story.
There are things to wake people up, not only for those who are in marriages, but for those who are about to get into a marriage. People are different. No matter how similar a couple could be, they are different. Difference shall be and must be respected. There is NO perfect one in this world and be ready to accept all kinds of wired hobbies. One guy might love fantasy football games and one gal might love shooting games. You don’t have to love what the other part likes, but you got to respect that hobby. One line in the movie was good:”you are great in the way who you are.”
