So let's think of the film in its own name "Little Children". Yeah it's plural. The Chinese translation is simply a misrepresentation of what the director is trying to tell, yeah, if so why our dear director named it "as mum".
The reason why I stress this is because the name of a film will give us expectation of the content and somehow it could limit our interpretation to the movie itself. 我在腾讯视频看的，后来发现一些sexually explicit scenes were cut.
And please don't ever trust the cover because it's very misleading as well. There are aren't any sexual shots in the movie as you watch it in Mainland China. If you're expecting something erotic look for something else.......
This film is telling two stories of three families. Ronnie, Sarah, and Brad. The characters inside, especially those housewife, in my opinion, it's a mirror reflection of the american public. They fantasize and normally they end there for the sake of whatever, maybe their children, family, etc.
And I can totally understand the struggling and quarrels of any ordinary family, like Brad is forced to take the bar exam and Sarah is so helpless about her husband's obsession to porn. 无论家庭主妇还是煮男，面临的困境就是，家里赚钱的they have more saying. And they tend to be the "weaker" one.
Ronnie is still a little child to his old mum. Still remember the conversation between them. "you're my miracle and we are all miracles." that line kind of represent the individualism in the West. Pay attention though, I mean it in a sense that 无论你多么卑微，但你仍然是个奇迹，你是几亿精子中的王者，而且你一路以来你还没挂。我说的并不是什么个人主义。Ronnie, is him a piece of shit? a pedophile, a weirdo? yes and no, he's just different. Something that is totally random, it can be his gene, and forgotten terrible experience. Sorry, I don't really know psychoanalysis.
Sarah and Brad, they are grown-ups but still they have the nature of exploring the "alternative" and trying to make a negotiation with their status of seemingly unhappiness. Life is unexpected.天知道他们私奔后会否过得更加一塌糊涂。haha after all, their skills to make their own living are totally rusted. Brad, as a man, always seek some youth, excitement, botherhood and secret lover in his life. Because of the stupid skate board, he let Sarah down, leaving her there in the park where they first met and kissed waiting in fear, disappointment and desperation.
结论：珍惜当下，好好改善生活，even you find an alternative, you might still end up as miserable as you now cuz people rarely change. 还有不要歧视弱势群体，yeah Ronnie is different, a weirdo, but that isn't up to his decision.
