It's been quite some time since I last watched something serious. I've been following Modern Family and The Big Bang Theory, so you can tell what I'm usually into. Well I have got to say that Press is a fresh breath.
Set in the background of the battle between two distinct presses, the herald, which believes the orthodox journalistic ethics and the post, which attracts people attention by sensational news and being funny, it has revealed how politics can sway the media and how power and money can twist peoples mind.
The character that impresses me the most is actually the antihero Duncan Allen, editor of the post. Once was a proper reporter, he is now somehow partially, if not completely controlled by a Mr Emerson, a politician and businessman, the epitome of power and money. His obvious passion for and talent in his profession, his love for his son, his shrewdness are all so real that it makes you happy and painful together with him. Maybe it has something to do with the charisma of the actor. I'm not going to deny that.
Anyway I think you will enjoy it as a reminder of what type of person you want to be and the occasional British humor.
