Storyline: 一部讨论美国以利益导向，通过价值高达数十亿美元的医疗器材产业，将医疗植入设备使用风险加诸在病患身上的片子；同时触目惊心的医疗利益链揭开了医疗器械界的种种黑幕。

Sit back and prepare to be angry. Since if this documentary doesn't cause concern about the FDA and the medical industry, then nothing will.

一听到“Everything we do is...”，就不禁感觉是伪君子娓娓道来的画风...确实如我所想，看完片子会觉得他们就是彻头彻尾的表演艺术家。

下面就让我们来一起看片子！片头上来就给出三个事实、三个假设。

三个事实--- 现代智能医疗器械有多好使呢？

-What if, by 2050, we have micro laboratories implanted in our bodies that predict illnesses before we ever get sick?

假如2050年我们利用体内移植微型实验室使人类在生病在可以预测到疾病？

-What if, by 2050, we have 3-D printers creating custom biomechanical organs?

假如2050年我们可以用3D打印机定制器官？

-Or what if artificial intelligence can be used to predict heart attacks before they even happen?

“Medical devices are a way of life in America. They are a way of life in postindustrial society. They help us live longer，They give us better quality of life.”

不可否认，很多医疗植入设备保住了人们的生命，并从某种程度上给病患带来高质量的生活。

“The medical device industry is a 300 billion-a-year industry. This is big business. It's kind of a parallel to the drug industry, and it isn't nearly as well understood.”

3000亿价值的行业，医疗器械产业的发展基本就是技术发展迅速推动出来的，美敦力、圣犹达、巴德、强生等都是国际知名的医疗器械企业；但危险的是这种技术的发展上超过了相关监管政策出台的速度。

美国有七千万人身体里植入了医疗设备，这也说明医疗器械的广泛使用，取得了很好的效果。其实在国内也能看到各种各样的医疗器械，包括植入体内的医疗设备，如心脏起搏器，及时地挽救了心脏病患者的生命。

很遗憾，下面都是各种难过的cases了，无辜的患者在身体植入医疗设备后出现了各种灾难性问题；虽然难过，但是我一直相信，了解事实，才带给我们直面问题的勇气。

Problem case 1 Essure - 避孕设备

“Essure is a permanent sterilization device. It is made out of little four-centimeter coils. It's inserted through the uterus and placed inside of the fallopian tubes. It's intentionally designed to cause an inflammatory response, which generates scar tissue. The scar tissue closes off the fallopian tubes permanently, blocking the sperm and the egg from meeting, therefore preventing pregnancy.”

从外行人角度看，这个绝育设备简直非人性，因为它的核心就是把一个4公分的little bitch（上图发亮部分 - 钢铁小环）插入子宫，置于输卵管内，故意使输卵管部位发炎，从而产生疤痕组织，然后组织会永久封闭输卵管，使精子卵子难以相遇，从而避免怀孕。But serisously? 滥用自身免疫功能？Not cool at all.

Essure user：Ana Fuentes

“You come in the office, you leave and you're good. You go back to your normal life.While the truth is: “the moment she stepped out of the doctor's office, she started feelingcramping. Then, in the first week, she startedbleedingmore than she have ever bled, in her whole life during a period.”

这位患者看起来就很真诚，作为观众，她的描述让我难受不已，那种被大姨妈支配的感觉，我想大部分女生都能理解吧，说好的“两分钟无痛手术立即出院呢？”

Essure user：A mail carrier

“After the procedure, I was running fevers a lot. The bleeding was almost continual. The sharp, stabbing pain on my left side was getting more and more intense.”

又发烧又出血又钻心的痛，本想用此设备永久绝育，做完手术后这个处境对于这位患者来说简直太难了。

Problem case 2 -Hip replacement金属材料（钴）髋关节置换

一位成功置换了钴制髋关节的患者在一年后突然爆炸性地的心理失常了（神经问题引起），医院的血液检测结果显示：

"My levels of cobaltwere 100 times what I should have."

你身体里的的金属关节部分溶解到血液里了，可不可怕？

“It's very hardto convince people this problem exists,unless you show reversibility.Get rid of the cobalt(钴材质),the problem goes away.”

后来这位患者又把髋部手术的材料换成了陶瓷加塑料的，前后被伤害两次。

Problem case 3 -Mesh- 盆底治疗

“The surgeon makes a cut in the vagina, and then implants the mesh to hold organs up in place.”

作为女生，实在不是很喜欢这种网格材质的东西接触子宫的想法。

患者 Tammy Jackson：

“I came home from my surgery. I started having a lot of pain, discomfort. I could not sit, I'd climb steps, I felt like a 90-year-old woman.”坐立不安+疼痛+爬楼困难，生活又对这些不幸使用此设备的女人下手了。

Ending: 为了科普医疗植入设备的术后风险，提高自身认知力，这片子值得一看。

Pros and cons by other film critics：

为了使读者可以辩证的看问题，我截取了一些外网网评，我们正反两方面看问题，不吃亏。

Pros：

- Deeply involving, showing struggles of real people

- It is hard to watch as a human, to realize what have we actually done to ourselves, but it's a must-see.

-Here's hoping The Bleeding Edge gets the right attention on a decidedly unsexy topic.

- How the Bleeding Edge elaborates on FDA's evaluation and decision-making processes as being influenced by the medical device industry makes this a jaw-dropping documentary narrative

Cons：

- It's a good documentary, but sadly most of the film is about Essure and nothing else... There was only mention of 2 other medical story's which lasted only 5-10 minutes, mostly about female anatomy.

- No representatives for the manu-facturers or for the FDA agreed to be interviewed, so essentially only tell one part of a story.

- My one complaint is that maybe it tries to get its arms around too much, too many spectrums and subject in this documentary.
