电影黑客帝国在很多人心中都是必看的经典，但剧情里这个巨大的漏洞却总是让我难受。
电影开篇不久， Morpheus 给 Neo 解释什么是 the matrix 和真实世界的时候，反复将人类比作 AI 的电池，被机器们玩弄于股掌之间来产生他们需要的能源：
The human body generates more bioelectricity than a 120-volt battery and over 25,000 BTUs of body heat. Combined with a form of fusion, the machines had found all the energy they would ever need.
人的身体产生高于 120 伏特的电压和超过 25000 BTU 的生物热能. 经过特殊形式的融合，机器们可以获得他们需要的所有能源。
作为一个理科生，看到这段时的内心独白就只有一句，这不是瞎扯淡么？
凭借有限的高中物理生物知识推想 - 人体确实会产生和散发热能，但是要知道供给人体的食物和水，其中大部分能源都消耗在了诸如身体细胞的产生、大脑的活动、和生成蛋白质上面。真正散发出来的热能恐怕只占相当小一部分吧？ 这样大费周章创建一个虚拟世界，最后却只能获取如此低的能量转化率，AI 到底怎么想的？
早些年听传言说，在电影早期的剧本，以及更早的一些有类似概念的科幻小说里，AI 其实是利用人脑多余的计算能力作为 CPU，来提供他们需要的运算能力。这个前提似乎更合理，但编剧担心对当时的观众来说太难理解，就改为了现在的版本。
所以说这部经典中的经典，就要永远背负着剧情严重漏洞的罪名了？我也以为如此，直到我读到了这段他人撰写的对白:
MORPHEUS: For the longest time, I wouldn't believe it. But then I saw the fields with my own eyes, watched them liquefy the dead so they could be fed intravenously to the living -
Morpheus: 在相当长的时间里，我都不敢相信。但当我亲眼目睹，看着他们液化尸体，再作为营养供给给活着的人们...
NEO (politely): Excuse me, please.
Neo: 抱歉，请允许我打断
MORPHEUS: Yes, Neo?
Morpheus: 请说
NEO: I've kept quiet for as long as I could, but I feel a certain need to speak up at this point. The human body is the most inefficient source of energy you could possibly imagine. The efficiency of a power plant at converting thermal energy into electricity decreases as you run the turbines at lower temperatures. If you had any sort of food humans could eat, it would be more efficient to burn it in a furnace than feed it to humans. And now you're telling me that their food is the bodies of the dead, fed to the living? Haven't you ever heard of the laws of thermodynamics?
Neo: 我尽可能地在倾听你，但是我觉得现在我需要说出我的想法。人的身体恐怕是你可以想像的效率最低的能源。当涡轮机在低温中运行时，热能转电能的效率会极大的降低。如果你有任何可以供给人类身体的食物，把它直接放在锅炉里燃烧来发电比拿来喂养人类会高效得多。现在你告诉我，人们的食物是死去人类的尸体？你听说过热力学定律么？
MORPHEUS: Where did you hear about the laws of thermodynamics, Neo?
Morpheus: 你在哪里听说的热力学定律？
NEO: Anyone who's made it past one science class in high school ought to know about the laws of thermodynamics!
Neo: 任何在高中上过一门科学课程的人都知道热力学定律。
MORPHEUS: Where did you go to high school, Neo?

NEO: ...in the Matrix.

MORPHEUS: The machines tell elegant lies.
Morpheus: 机器编造着美丽的谎言
(Pause.)
NEO (in a small voice): Could I please have a real physics textbook?
Neo: 我可以，看看真正的物理课本么？
MORPHEUS: There is no such thing, Neo. The universe doesn't run on math.
Morpheus: 并没有这样的东西，宇宙不像是 Matrix，并不构建在数字之上。
