呼朋引伴

This is an amazing film I have ever watched for a while.

It almost has a special texture that can hardly be described yet can be beautifully felt.

The chemistry between the old and young men, the interviews with those kids (and their surprisingly insightful answers), city landscapes captured in shades of grey, and the stimulating quotes/excerpts scattered in the film just like cherries on top of a cake (my favorite is the lines from Star Child) - all the elements are loosely connected with each other, but in combination, they have created magic that can touch and soothe your soul.

Where does that magic power come from? My guess is that it is rooted deeply in humanity, our shared humanity. The film has a sober understanding of the human condition and truthfully displays the brutalities (or hidden scars) in varied aspects of life, including but not limited to child-raising, mental health, intimate relationship, aging parent, and siblings drifting apart. However, despite those desperate moments, it comforts and warms you with gentleness, kindness, emotional bonds, and a sense of hope, all the good stuff that coexist with bad stuff in life.

It tells you, it is okay to not be fine, and it is a totally reasonable response.

It tells you, be funny, comma, when you can, period.

It tells you, the future never goes as you plan and what you do not think of always happens, so you just need to
