影片大致可以以印第安老人一段为转折点，分为两部分。前面一段Mickey和Mallory事实上和一般的变态杀人狂没有太大的区别，他们杀人的动机，多是因为愤怒，迷茫，冲动，快感，其中亦有“恶”的因素在内。假如把杀戮看作一种恶作剧的话，M&M就只能算一对天真淘气的孩子，一对饱经苦痛，深深相爱的孩子。他们在大吊桥上对大河和上帝说出爱的誓言；他们划破手掌，紧紧相握，血与血相溶，滴入大河，奔入大海；他们戴上蛇戒，深情拥吻，Mallory头上长长的白纱飘向空中；他们永远都不会分离。Mallory: I do. 印第安老人的出现，是对他们二人的救赎。M&M在老人的小屋里安详的入睡，然而Mickey错手杀掉了老人。二人就像做错事了的孩子，惊慌失措，悲悔万分。但这和他们的爱情一样，是命运注定的。老人收养这两支“蛇”，老人的死带走了二人心中的“恶”。一个事实被证明了：The only thing that kills a demon is love. 二人转瞬从迷途的羔羊，变为命运的使者。Mickey: Mister rabbit says, "A moment of realization is worth a thousand prayers."
