When flipping through Netflix movies, I stumbled upon this short animated film. 17 minute long, and what a nice surprise. It is short yet hauntingly rich and deep, philosophical, sad yet lovely.
The story is the conversation between this little girl Emily and her clone in the future (227 years to be exact). When human finally can live forever, can preserve all the memories, what would happen? Well, we still have to deal with love, sadness, loss, and loneliness.
"That is the thing about the present, Emily Prime. You only appreciate it when it is the past."
"Do not lose time on daily trivialities. Do not dwell on petty detail. For all of these things melt away and drift apart within the obscure traffic of time. Live well and live broadly. You are alive and living now. Now is the envy of all of the dead."
